This is the story of our little 30 pound Terrier mix named Daisy.
Daisy came to us from a bad winter storm with the temperatures in the -30 range. Someone put her out at the K-Mart
parking lot. They thought she was maybe 8 weeks old. We adopted her and she has been the best dog anyone could ask
for. We live on a small lake in Waupaca, and Daisy loved to dog paddle around the lake on those warm days. She
developed a friendship with our neighbor's dog a large black lab names Chelsie. They spent many days wandering around
the lakes, and playing in the water. We spend our winters in Texas on ocean in south Texas. Daisy and our other dog
Cleo have enjoyed their days on the beach. This winter brought a terrible sadness to our hearts. While my husband
was walking Daisy, two Pit Bulls not on leashes came and attacked her. The owners quickly picked them up and drove
away. Daisy lived for 4 more days and 2 1/2 hours of surgery to repair her wounds. It broke our hearts. We have had
her for 13 1/2 years and it was like loosing a family member. We will always remember that little dog that was the
K-mart blue light special. We have since visited the shelter down here in Texas and will be bringing a new 10 month
old Malta and Poo mix home with us. We have named her Pansy. She is a sweet heart. Our older dog Cleo (15 1/2) has
increased her appetite and energy level since Pansy's arrival. Cleo went down hill for awhile after Daisy left us.
She was mourning her pal. We hope that Cleo will enjoy this summer at the lake with her new buddy.
We have always adopted from the shelter or a rescue dog, and have had many years of pleasure from them.

This Idea is so great...really!!! I can relate to all animal lovers that have taken a pet in due to unfortunate
situations! I being an owner of 5 indoor cats myself have adopted 7 strays in our area that feed, and try to keep
warm all winter on my back porch. Clean warm blankets daily in the winter months and food warming dishes filled with
milk, and food. It's hard to keep up with them but amazing that they can survive all the elements they do. One of
the outside cats we call Tyler is one of a litter of 4...he is the only one that was born with a tail. All the
others have no tails and are adorable but Tyler has a long tail that's very active. Its almost like he can't control
it sometimes. He tries to hold it down and tuck it between his legs to stop it from moving so much. This summer and
winter Tyler discovered he loves to bath in the heated birdbath...he even sleeps in it.... yes in the water! We had
to finally take it off our back porch and put it away for the winter for fear he'd be wet and get a cold! Sweet and
cute! Animals are amazing!

Awesome idea you guy's came up with. I wanted to share a story about a stray cat we took in. He only has 3 legs. He
has been with us since the day we bought the house. He looks just like Garfield, fat and orange and sweet and sassy
all in one awesome cat. This cat we call Garfield is a great protector. He follows us on our family walks and watches
over the kids when they go out to play and then he always returns home with us and takes a long nap. We found out a
short time ago that this amazing cat once belonged to the mail lady that delivers our mail. She lived on our street
and took care of him at one time also and she said he took care of their kids too. SO this neighborhood truly loves
him so much and he is a blessing to us all. We now have completely adopted Garfield and have transformed him into a
house cat. We all love him so much and thank god we found each other. The kids love to have him around it's just like
having a dog he really watches out for us.
Hope you can share this with others so they see what a difference they can make in a pet's life but most of all what
a difference a pet can make in their lives. You couldn't ask for a better gift than the love of an animal. We have
adopted 2 dogs from shelters and 4 stray kitties and we love them all.
